 I am currently recruiting a PhD student for enrollment in Fall, 2014, to study the impacts of regional climate patterns on the mid-Atlantic summer flounder (fluke) fishery. This position has been created as part of a multidisciplinary NOAA / Sea Grant project. The ideal candidate will have experience in recreation site choice modeling or other non-market valuation techniques, and a strong background in economics. Experience with marine fisheries is a plus. The work will require collaboration with fisheries scientists and ecologists, as well as regional fishery management officials. There will be opportunities to publish results in scholarly journals. The first year of funding is guaranteed ($24,000 for 12 months plus tuition, fees, and health insurance), with future funding to be determined at the time of application review, and possibly contingent on acceptance of a TA position.Our department offers an interdisciplinary PhD degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy.
