2019-Hiring a research assistant data specialist

We are looking for a data specialist to lead on designing and implementing a new database bringing together biological and environmental data to facilitate research on the conservation of Atlantic salmon. This 3 yr full-time post will be based in the Biological and Environmental Sciences , University of Stirling. PhD opportunity under the IAPETUS2 NERC scheme, hosted at Heriot Watt University (Edinburg, Scotland) with main supervisors Prof. A. Sweetman (Heriot Watt) and Tracy Shimmield (British Geological Survey) and co-supervised by myself, Ruth Parker and Stefan Bolam (Cefas – Centre for Environment Fisheries and Aquaculture Science, Lowestoft, England). “Understanding the role of benthic fauna and microbes in UK seabed biogeochemical cycles, and how anthropogenic stressors modify these roles and the ecosystem services they generate”. 2019-5 PhDs on fish ecology in the Wadden Sea

All five PhD-positions are part of the same overarching « Dutch Swimways » project. The overarching aim of this project is to investigate the function of theWadden Sea for fish, and come up with management recommendations for fish in the Wadden Sea. PhD projects 1 and 2 look at the function of salt-marches and subtidal reefs for fish and will be placed at the Marine Ecology lab. at RUG/GELIFES. PhD project 3 deal with quantifying pelagic fish in the Wadden Sea and will be placed at Wageningen Marine Research.
