2021- Postdoctoral position – Integrated ecosystem assessment of the Norwegian Sea

The Institute of Marine Research (IMR) in Norway has a vacancy for a 2-year postdoctoral position, with the possibility for 2 years extension given funding, to develop tools for the integrated assessment of the Norwegian Sea ecosystem.

The candidate will develop instruments to assess the state, drivers and tipping points and conduct risk and vulnerability assessments for the Norwegian Sea ecosystem. The planned work will involve extensive literature reviews and syntheses, interaction with relevant scientific experts, managers and stakeholders, data compilation, construction of qualitative and quantitative models and presentation of results in peer-reviewed publications and conferences.

The research will be part of the EU-project Mission-Atlantic and the results will contribute to the IMR Strategic Initiative on harvests in the Norwegian Sea (SIS-Høsting) and the working group on the integrated ecosystem assessment for the Norwegian Sea (WGINOR) of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES).

The postdoc position is in the multidisciplinary Ecosystem Processes research group, working on research, monitoring and management advice related to ecosystem structure, function and dynamics, including climate change effects and impacts of human activities, using both empirical and ecosystem modelling approaches.
