2015_11: Scientific advice to fisheries management under the Common Fisheries Policy with a focus on the Mediterranean and Black Sea

A vacancy at the Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector of the Maritime Affairs Unit of the JRC is currently available.

Profile:
The candidate must have a strong background in marine biology, fishery science or a related discipline.
Essential requirement is expertise in quantitative analysis combined with solid statistical skills.
This encompasses experience with the statistical programming language R, skills in database manipulation and knowledge of fisheries assessment and management strategy evaluation. Preferential requirements are knowledge of the CFP and DCF and familiarity with scientific fora on stock assessment (e.g. STECF EWGs, ICES Expert Groups, GFCM WGSAs).
An interest in the integration of established and novel fisheries management tools such as genetic stock identification is an asset as is a record of scientific publishing and writing of reports for the provision of scientific advice.The post is a Contract Agent – Function Group IV – Researcher.

Min contract duration: 1 year
Max contract duration: 6 years
