A permanent position in is available in the Middle Depth Fisheries and Acoustics group of the National Institute for Water and Atmospheric Research of New Zealand (NIWA).
Location: Wellington, New Zealand
Requirements: Previous experience in fisheries acoustics is essential.
You must have good quantitative skills, with some formal training in acoustics, and statistics or mathematics. You should be familiar with at least one programming language, preferably Matlab, C++, or R. You must be adaptable, practical, and able to install, configure and operate fisheries acoustic equipment and systems.
Being prepared to take part in acoustic surveys on research and commercial fishing vessels is essential.
A PhD is desirable, but candidates with a lower qualification and at least 5 years work experience in fisheries acoustics will be considered.
